The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is hoping to encourage more pensioners on a low income to check if they are entitled to an income boost of around £4,300 each year. Pension Credit Week of Action is a UK-wide initiative to drive take-up of the means-tested benefit and will run from Monday October 27 until Sunday November 2, 2025.
An estimated 760,000 people over State Pension age are eligible for the top-up, but not claiming it. Pension Credit does more than provide direct financial support, it can unlock access to additional financial help with heating bills, housing costs, Council Tax and free TV licences for those aged 75 and over.
