Ronnie O'Sullivan has been handed a fresh opportunity to appear in snooker's Champion of Champions event.

The Rocket had yet to qualify for the tournament, which will be held between November 10 and 16.

With 14 members of the 16 player-field confirmed, the final two spots are still up for grabs in Leicester.

Event organisers have now revealed how these two places will be filled, with O'Sullivan on course to take one of them.

The winner of this week's Northern Ireland Open will receive an entry for the event.

Meanwhile, the final spot will go to the highest ranked player yet to qualify for the tournament.
