Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed a peace deal for Gaza and Israel, claiming it would avoid a Third World War.
In front of more than a dozen world leaders, he bragged: ‘‘This took 3,000 years, can you believe it? And it’s going to hold up. This is an incredible day for the world.’
Now, the US leader has spoken to TIME about how he oversaw parts of the peace process, which saw the release of all living hostages, along with hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
Trump is known for his unorthodox diplomatic practices – and boasting about them – and didn’t hold back in his interview.
At one point, he said he pressured Netanyahu in private to end the bloodshed, adding: ‘He would have just kept going.
