As the Los Angeles Dodgers get set for their World Series title defense, discourse around the sport has begun to center on whether this team is "ruining" the sport.

Manager Dave Roberts poked fun at his team's critics in the wake of the National League Championship Series, saying he hoped the Dodgers would "really ruin baseball" with four more wins. But the perception that LA can afford to build a roster other teams can't is partially an uncomfortable truth, and partially an excuse to let the other 29 teams off the hook.
