NORTH CENTER — Comedy studio Corn Productions, which runs The Cornservatory Theater, has provided laughs in North Center for 25 years. But the theater group is now in danger of closing its doors — and it’s asking for help.
The studio, which performs at 4210 N. Lincoln Ave., is trying to raise $10,000 by Nov. 1 to fund operating costs for the rest of the year and cover rent from previous months. If the funds aren’t raised, the theater could lose its longtime home. Those interested can donate to its online fundraiser.
Corn Productions looks to democratize comedy, fostering young writers and performers while putting on shows that are accessible to people of all means. Until 2022, the group was largely supported through state and federally funded grants, said artistic director Justin Lance.
