The Sims Mobile app has been taken off app stores ahead of a planned sunset for the game in January 2026.
The news about the app, a favourite amongst queer gamers , was announced by Electronic Arts on Sunday (19 October) and then on social media a day later. In a blog post EA explained the plan for the next few months including event rollouts and the eventual server shut down in the new year.
“Hey Simmers, We have some sad news today,” The Sims Mobile X/Twitter account posted on Monday (20 October) “After seven years and more than 50 updates, The Sims Mobile is releasing its final update,” the post said confirming the game will go offline on 20 January 2026 at 1:59 PM UTC.
