Traffic has been stopped on a major UK motorway and a nearby A-road as police respond to an incident.

All vehicles are being held on the M60 clockwise between junctions 22 at Failsworth and 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne. The A635 Manchester Road is also blocked westbound as police officers respond to the incident.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are responding to an incident on the M60, near Manchester Road, after reports of a concern for welfare. Road closures are currently in place between Junction 23 and 24 on the motorway." 14:47 Tim Hanlon
