In the wake of recent blows to the Canadian auto manufacturing sector, Ford Canada said the scheduled relaunch of production at the Oakville Assembly Plant in 2026 continues to move forward.

Asked directly Oct. 20 if the auto giant had any plans to move production from Oakville to the United States, a Ford spokesperson kept their response brief.

“Plans at Oakville remain on track,” they said.

The spokesperson later clarified they were indeed referring to plans to begin producing Super Duty pickup trucks at the Oakville plant starting next year.

A 26,800 square metre stamping plant is currently under construction — with Ford stating in a 2024 press release that they planned to invest $2.3 billion to install assembly and integrated stamping operations at the site.
