Queuing traffic on the M1 northbound this afternoon
Three lanes of a busy stretch of the M1 have been closed due to a vehicle fire. National Highways confirmed that lanes 1, 2, and 3 (of 4) on the M1 northbound have been closed between junction 24A (East Midlands Airport) and junction 25 (Derby).
Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently working at the scene, and delays of up to 50 minutes have been forecast. The southbound lanes are unaffected.
The incident has also affected the nearby A52, where eastbound traffic towards the junction is slowed, traffic monitoring site INRIX has shown. The incident has been forecast to cause delays for at least another hour.
