Aiming to bolster India’s indigenous defence capabilities and operational readiness across the armed forces, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on Thursday approved acquisition proposals worth around ₹79,000 crore.

The Army received nod at the DAC meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for procurement of the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground-Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Cranes, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

It is learnt that 2,408 Nag Mark 2 anti-tank guided missiles along with 107 NAMICA tracked vehicles are set to amplify fire power of the Army to neutralise armoured threats across varied terrains. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and produced
