BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (WIS) - A Richland County student is still recovering after being hit by a vehicle earlier this week.
Richland School District Two said in a statement provided to WIS that the district was “thankful to learn that the student involved in the incident near one of our schools is doing well.”
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the student was hit by a 2010 Mercedes sedan while riding their bicycle across the street from Lake Carolina Elementary School. The child also attends the school, according to authorities.
SCHP said the driver of the Mercedes, identified as 37-year-old Brandon Jivers, was charged with failure to yield.
The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This is a developing story. Stay with WIS for the latest details.
