Hazel Park police are investigating reported break-ins of five vacant homes recently, where several large appliances valued at thousands of dollars were stolen.
Three of the break-ins happened sometime between Oct. 16 and Oct. 21 at homes listed for rent in the 23000 block of Vance Avenue, 300 block of Chestnut Avenue and 23300 block of Hazelwood Avenue, police said.
Washers, dryers and refrigerators valued at approximately $5,800 were stolen, police said. The other two, in the 1100 block of East Hayes Avenue and 1300 block of East Harry Avenue, happened between Oct. 20 and Oct. 22, police said, where a new air conditioner, stoves and refrigerators — valued at approximately $4,200 — were stolen, police said.
