New Delhi: India is set to strengthen its armed forces with a major purchase of military equipments worth Rs 79,000 crore. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved several important equipment purchases for the army, navy, and air force during a meeting on Thursday.

Army Upgrades

The tracked Nag missile system, or Mk-II NAMIS, will be added to the army’s arsenal to take out enemy vehicles, bunkers, and fortifications. The army will also get GBMES, which can track enemy signals and provide round the clock intelligence for better planning. The DAC has also approved high-mobility vehicles equipped with cranes, which will improve logistics and support the troops in difficult terrains.
