Gananoque town council has passed a vote of no confidence in Mayor John Beddows.

The motion, brought forward during Tuesday’s council meeting, received unanimous support from all six councillors. Gananoque council is comprised of six councillors and the mayor.

Coun. David Osmond said the decision was not made lightly.

“This is new and not fun territory for any of us,” said Osmond.

While the vote carries no formal policy weight, Osmond said it was intended as a symbolic gesture to express council’s collective concerns and encourage improved collaboration heading into the final year of the current term.
