A 17-year-old boy is dead after he took a gun from an off-duty officer during an archery class at a boys' home in Oklahoma and shot himself, authorities said.

Two other students were present at the time of the incident.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 9:23 a.m. local time, officials received a 911 call from the Tulsa Boys’ Home in Sand Springs reporting that a 17-year-old boy had been shot, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release shared on Facebook.
