LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan GOP lawmakers are demanding that Michigan State Police Director Col. James Grady and Deputy Director Lt. Col. Aimee Brimacombe step down or be "relieved of their duties."

Senate Republicans held a news conference Thursday morning to announce the demands.

In a letter sent to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, State Sen. Jim Runestad says that the "failed leadership of these two individuals continues to erode public trust in what should be one of our state’s most respected institutions."

He adds, "accountability and integrity matter when it comes to the men and women who put on the uniform of our state police."
