SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Waldens Creek Fire Department has issued a warning, saying that for the first time during 2025’s fire season, the area’s fire danger has increased to the “moderate” level.

“While parts of our area received rainfall earlier this week, it was not enough to significantly reduce wildfire potential,” the department’s notice said. “Fuels remain fairly dry, and winds are expected to increase between 10–15 mph with gusts up to 28 mph throughout the day. These conditions can allow fires to start easily and spread rapidly."

As such, the department has recommended:

Avoid any outdoor burning

Properly extinguish cigarettes and fire pits

Be alert for power line movement or sparks in windy areas

Report any smoke or signs of fire immediately to 911
