The White House this week nominated former Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart to be the next U.S. marshal for Minnesota.
Stuart was one of two candidates for the job recommended earlier this year by Minnesota’s Republican congressional delegation. The other was former Minneapolis police union leader Bob Kroll.
Stuart served three terms as Anoka County sheriff before opting not to run for reelection in 2022. Most recently, he’s served as executive director of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association.
If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Stuart will fill the position most recently held by Biden appointee Eddie Frizell.
