THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite opposition from the CPI, Kerala has signed a memorandum of understanding to join the central government's PM SHRI scheme. The state education secretary signed the agreement on behalf of Kerala. The Centre has announced that the funds withheld earlier due to the state not joining the scheme will now be released soon.
The CPI had opposed the scheme, alleging that it was part of the RSS agenda. CPI ministers had also raised their objections during the recent cabinet meeting. However, the state government went ahead and signed the agreement, ignoring the objection.
