CROCKETT, Texas (KETK) -- The Crockett Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday after receiving a report that he had stolen a chainsaw from a resident's carport.

On Wednesday, at approximately 4:40 p.m. the Crocket Police Department responded to the 600 block of Fair Street after a resident reported seeing a man stealing a chainsaw from the carport of his neighbor's home, which was located about 200 feet behind the Houston County Jail.

The resident provided officers with a description of the suspect, and that he was heading towards East Bell Avenue on foot. Officers quickly began searching the area for the suspect who witnesses said was last seen disappearing behind several houses nearby.
