The latest stop on Trey Yesavage 's wild ride: Game 1 of the World Series. The Blue Jays announced on Thursday the flamethrowing rookie would start Friday's opener against the Dodgers.
At 22 years and 88 days old, Yesavage will be the second-youngest Game 1 starting pitcher in World Series history, behind just the Dodgers' Ralph Branca (21 years, 267 days) in 1947.
Yesavage, who started the season in Single-A Dunedin and has just three regular-season starts under his belt, started and won Game 6 of the ALCS against the Mariners with 5 2/3 strong innings. The hard-throwing right-hander will hope to turn in a similar outing to his masterful postseason debut, when he struck out 11 Yankees batters in 5 1/3 no-hit innings in a 13-7 victory in Game 2 of the ALDS .
