JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) – In collaboration with the state’s Area Agencies on Aging, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services joined together for the Older Americans Act final rule.
The OAA, first passed in 1965, gives federal funding for programs that support older independent adults, including nutrition, transportation, and caregiver services.
Missouri is one of the first and few states that abide fully with the OAA.
According to a news release, in February 2024, the Administration for Community Living, within the United States Department of Health and Human Services, published a final rule for the OAA. This was the first update to the OAA regulations since 1988.
