A judge in Miami dismissed a lawsuit against global superstar Shakira on Thursday in which a California man accused her of deceiving him in a supposed multimillion-dollar contract.

But all signs point to the purported evidence showing interactions with a scammer, and not the actual singer.

In the lawsuit, the 80-year-old plaintiff claimed to have given Shakira over $140,000 to organize concerts and promote a book about her life after entering into a contract with her in January 2023. He also paid for plane tickets and personal expenses.

The attached evidence included screenshots of messages and Facebook posts that appear to show a profile with the singer's name posting about the plaintiff, calling him her "official husband," "love of my life" and "business partner."
