PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncy Billups is on leave due to allegations that he was involved in rigged poker games organized by the mafia, and the news has left the team’s community in shock.

“I will tell you that this is a very sad day for all of us as sports fans,” Sen. Ron Wyden said when asked for his thoughts on the investigation. He declined to comment further.

Billups was among several other National Basketball Association (NBA) figures arrested as part of two federal investigations with “global reach,” the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced during a Thursday morning press conference.
