Shillong, Oct 23: Ri Bhoi Police has filed a chargesheet in connection with the alleged sexual assault and murder of a 13-year-old girl within a record time of 13 days.

The girl went missing around 10.30 am after returning home from school on October 9.

The investigation, which started on October 10, began shortly after the tragic discovery of the victim’s body.

The 22-year-old accused, a resident of Kalapangti village, was arrested on the intervening night of October 10 and 11.

“The investigation was completed in a record 13 days, in keeping with the department’s commitment to file the chargesheet within two weeks of the crime,” Special Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore said.
