WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (WFSB) - The Woodbridge Regional Animal Control asked for the community’s support in helping a severely emaciated dog.

According to Woodbridge police, animal control received a complaint about the dog from a Seymour resident on Oct. 20.

The dog was immediately brought to a veterinarian who said the pup was in life-threatening condition.

Animal control officers and police are still investigating what happened.

Meanwhile, the dog remains under intensive care at VCA Shoreline.

The WRAC asked for donations to help offset the cost of medical treatment.

According to WRAC, the initial 48-hour treatment estimate was $7,000. Officials also determined that the dog would require a minimum of five additional days of hospitalization for recovery and continued treatment.
