The NBA woke up pretty shocked on October 22 as federal authorities hit the league with a sweeping crackdown on illegal gambling and poker schemes allegedly tied to Mafia networks.
At the center of it all: Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups, and dozens of others across 11 states. Rozier’s arrest in Orlando made headlines early Thursday, part of an investigation dubbed “Operation Royal Flush” that uncovered alleged rigged poker games and insider sports betting operations manipulating NBA contests.
Rozier’s attorney fired back immediately, blasting the FBI for a photo-op arrest and insisting his client is not a gambler.
