“(Duff) served with the Canadian army in Germany soon after the end of (the Second World War), so he saw the destruction caused by the Allied war effort,” said Bill Beswetherick, branch 92 historian and life member. “He was one of the first Canadian soldiers to serve in Germany as a part of our NATO commitment. After he left the military, he became a Canadian civil servant. In the legion, he was on our Gananoque colour party for over 20 years, and for at least 20 years has been one of the legion members who serve meals at our monthly brunches.
