KINGSTON, N.Y. — It’s been a long and largely unsuccessful season so far for Kingston High’s football team. But even though the Tigers have a 1-6 record and are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, there is still something left to play for.

Though Kingston is in last place with an 0-3 record in the Section 9 Class AA standings, there is still a way to qualify for the playoffs. To have a chance to make it, the Tigers must sweep their remaining two league games, starting with a trip to Montgomery to face Valley Central (1-3 Class AA, 1-6 overall) at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.

First-year Tigers coach Kirk Reinhardt has remained positive about his team’s effort even as the losses have mounted. He continues to harp about cutting down on penalties and eliminating turnovers.
