When you see Mary Lou Steinberg’s self-portrait — on display as part of the exhibit titled “Looking Back, Moving Forward: A Retrospective,” on display through Nov. 28 at Marquis Art & Frame Second Floor Gallery in downtown Wilkes-Barre — you’ll notice she’s presented her face as a sort of jigsaw puzzle.
“It’s all the different facets of myself,” the local artist said, noting different parts of her personality have inspired her to work with media as diverse as oil paints, color pencils, glass and textiles.
“I love the fabrics,” art fan Terri Nowak of Kingston said as she perused that part of the exhibit during a recent opening night reception.
