CLOVIS, N.M. -- Clovis could soon be the home of a racino after the New Mexico Race Commission on Thursday supported a plan to move a license for SunRay Park from Farmington, officials confirmed.
Executive Director Izzy Trejo explained to EverythingLubbock.com this is not final approval for the racino, but part a regulatory process the commission must adhere to. Next, officials will meet for a formal public hearing in Clovis, which Trejo said was expected to be scheduled sometime in late December.
Trejo said the plan is for the racino to be located on a 200-acre spot east of Clovis off U.S. 60/84. He said it will include a one-mile oval for a racetrack with a grandstand for fans, a casino and hotel. Trejo said there will be more than 1,300 stalls for racehorses and an RV park with necess
