A Komoka Kings player was handed a 20-game suspension after appearing to step on an opposing player during a Greater Ontario Hockey League contest earlier this month.
Though the Junior B circuit does not publicly disclose the length of its bans, a league source confirmed the suspension issued to third-year forward Jagan Chanderdat for a “shocking” incident that occurred late in the third period of a game against St. Thomas in Komoka.
At the time, the 19-year-old Londoner was given a match penalty for attempting to injure after stepping over Stars counterpart Dylan Searles.
The league in a statement told the Free Press that every disciplinary decision is the result of a “thorough and thoughtful review process” and reached in accordance with its established procedures.
