CITYWIDE — Chicagoans awoke Thursday morning to the city’s coldest temperatures since May — and the chilly conditions will be sticking around, according to the National Weather Service.
A frost advisory has been issued for the Chicago area for 1-8 a.m. Friday, with overnight temperatures in the area expected to be as low as 27 degrees, the weather service said in an advisory. Temperatures will be slightly warmer in Chicago and near the lakefront.
Thursday’s low was forecasted at 35 degrees, and the high of just 52 degrees represented a dramatic shift from the early October highs that neared 90, according to meteorologist David King of the National Weather Service.
