NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Nearly 3 million New Yorkers and 240,000 low-income New York City residents are at risk of losing SNAP benefits starting Nov. 1.

The risk of being dropped from the program comes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which is expected to cut funds from SNAP, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

With so many New Yorkers potentially affected by the changes in requirements, who still qualify for the benefits?

Age limits have changed to between 18 and 64 years old for able-bodied individuals and under the age of 14 for dependents.

To get SNAP benefits for more than three months in a three-year period, recipients who meet the age limit must provide proof of working at least 80 hours per month or participate in qualified training programs.
