A new book, Only God Can Judge Me: The Many Lives of Tupac Shakur by Jeff Pearlman, is shedding light on a behind-the-scenes clash between the late rapper and pop icon Janet Jackson during the making of their 1993 romantic drama.
According to writer Jeff Pearlman, tension erupted on set after Jackson allegedly requested that Shakur take an AIDS test before filming their kissing scene. The book claims the request came through producer Steve Nicolaides, who told Shakur that Jackson didn’t want to “swap saliva" unless she was sure he was “healthy and clean."
