Longtime Bay Area Council President and CEO Jim Wunderman has been named incoming head of public affairs for California Forever, a billionaire-backed firm that’s aiming to expand a small town into a modern metropolis in rural Solano County.

For the last 21 years, Wunderman has led the Bay Area Council, an influential business group that advocates on economic, transportation, housing and environmental issues affecting Northern California. He will leave his current position at the end of the year, a council spokesperson said.

Jan Sramek, California Forever’s founder and CEO, says that his company intends to build “the next great American City” and change the dynamic that has left Solano County out of the growth and opportunity that has benefitted the Bay Area and Sacramento.
