ORLANDO, Fla. – Millions of people who rely on SNAP benefits for food could have to go without in November if the government doesn’t reopen.
This week, Florida and several other states announced that the monthly benefit could be paused in November. The SNAP warning was posted to the Florida Department of Children and Families website.
Nearly 3 million people in Florida, about 1 in 8 Floridians, receive SNAP benefits, according to 2024 data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Of those, some 59% are families with children, and 41% are in families with older adults or people with disabilities.
