Brockville council is to vote Tuesday on a recommendation to spend $400,000 or more on a washroom facility at the foot of Market Street West.
Council’s general committee this week recommended the full council approve the spending ahead of the 2026 budget process, allowing for a prefabricated toilet facility to be placed at the downtown location.
The site at the corner of Market Street West and Water Street has remained vacant, with a few parking spaces, since the city opted to demolish the buildings there in late 2022; the location is now considered a small park.
Last year, council approved plans to install public washrooms at the site.
