Georgia baseball coach Wes Johnson’s contract extension he agreed to in May will see his total pay continue to rise through the length of the deal, but also comes with a much higher buyout should Johnson leave.
Johnson, whose recent contract extension now runs through June 30, 2031, could be an attractive candidate for openings after going 86-34 in two seasons with the Bulldogs including a trip to an NCAA Super Regional in his first year and to am NCAA Regional last season.
The former LSU and Minnesota Twins pitching coach's name has been connected by some to the Tennessee opening after Tony Vitello was hired by the MLB San Francisco Giants on Oct. 22.
