Yes, the Blue Jays have moved on from the apparent near miss of landing superstar Shohei Ohtani back in 2023.

Or almost, anyway.

Toronto manager John Schneider has one tongue-in-cheek request of the Dodgers superstar in advance of Friday’s opener of the World Series.

“I hope he brought his hat, the Blue Jays hat he took form us in our meeting,” Schneider said. “I hope he brought it back, finally. And the jacket for Decoy (Ohtani’s dog.) It’s like give us our stuff back, already.”

And yes, there is a backstory.

When Ohtani visited the Jays spring training facility in Dunedin in December, 2023 the team had Jays gear made up for him which the Japanese superstar took with him as he exited the facility.

Days later, he announced on his Instagram that he was signing a 10-year, $700-millio
