The Calgary Stampeders are taking inspiration from another Canadian sports team chasing a championship title these days.
One that’s already in the big dance and captivating the nation with their success.
“Go, Jays!” said Stampeders receiver Clark Barnes, when joining a fray of Toronto Blue Jays supporters post-practice at McMahon Stadium in talking about the baseball team’s upcoming World Series appearance.
“Vladdy’s the chosen one,” continued Barnes, of Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. “He’s been ready for this since he was a kid. Don’t worry … he’s going to get it done.”
To do so, the Guerrero and the Blue Jays — of course — will have to swing their way through the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers, which is no doubt a major task given their star power.
