MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - Mesa County Commissioners have committed $1.7 million to a project aimed at improving biker safety and water flow along 38 Road in Palisade.

The project, which involves installing pipes to create a shared road and path, is part of a transportation alternative grant that exceeded initial cost estimates. Mesa County's contribution will help secure a Colorado Water Plan grant to move the project forward.

Laura Page, engineering division director for Mesa County Public Works, emphasized the importance of coordinating construction with local vineyards to avoid disrupting their growing season.
