Niagara Parks will host a community tree planting event at Legends on the Niagara.
Saturday’s free event, in partnership with Niagara Parks Foundation and Trees for Life, will be held at the Niagara River Parkway golf course between 10 a.m. and noon.
Niagara Parks staff will supply trees, tools and guidance. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The initiative is part of Niagara Parks’ commitment to planting 5,000 trees every year.
The goal is to increase canopy cover to 35 per cent by 2028 to improve forest health, increase species and habitat biodiversity, mitigate the impacts of invasive species and climate change, and promote stewardship.
