Prince Edward County has approved a plan to hire more personal support workers for the H.J. McFarland Home.
The plan was presented to members of council during Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
The motion before the committee called for the creation of 10 new part time PSW positions, in an attempt to save money for the facility by bringing more staff in house rather than relying on external staffing agencies or paying for overtime with existing staff.
The additional workers are also needed to ensure the home remains in compliance with the Ministry of Long-Term Care’s provincial mandate of at least 4 hours of direct care per resident per day.
The motion was approved without debate, and forwarded to a future meeting of council for final approval.
