Community leaders in Ardmore are taking action to ensure every child and their family has a smoke alarm. This initiative is part of an effort to honor Jaydin Daly, a 7-year-old child who tragically lost his life in a house fire two months ago.

Cedar Hill Elementary Principal Nona Adams fondly remembered Jaydin Daly, saying, "He was a kindergartener here and had the sweetest little smile. Always happy. A sweet child," Adams said. In late August, Daly died alongside his father in a house fire.

Adams shared that after the fire, she learned the Dalys did not have a smoke alarm in their home. "After this tragedy we realized that we don't know that all of our students are safe," Adams said. This knowledge sparked the idea for a Fire Prevention Day, offering free alarms to families in need.
