Police are warning of a series of six of armed robberies that occurred after the victims used social media to arrange meetups.
The robbers met the victims at the time and place they agreed upon via social media and then displayed a handgun and forced the victims to give up their personal property, authorities said. The robbers also forced victims to send money electronically.
Authorities did not specify what social media platforms were used or what the purpose of the meetups were.
Details on the date and locations of the six incidents are below:
2:15 p.m. on August 13 on the 12400 block of South State Street in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood.
3:10 a.m. on August 20 on the 1500 block of West 111th Street in Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood.
4 a.m. on August 20 on the 11800 bloc
