VIRGINIA - Canada's Brad Jacobs remained undefeated and clinched a semifinal berth at the Pan Continental Curling Championships with an 8-2 win over Australia's Hugh Millikin on Thursday.
The win also sealed a berth for a Canadian team at the world men’s curling championship, March 27-April 4 in Ogden, Utah.
Jacobs' Calgary-based team was in control early with deuces in the first and third ends to take a 4-1 lead. Jacobs then stole one in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The Australians conceded after taking a single point in the sixth.
Jacobs (5-0) will wrap up round-robin play on Friday with games against Japan’s Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (4-1) and John Shuster of the United States (5-0).
