ROCKFORD, ILL (WTVO) — The Rockford Family Peace Center has released a new children's activity book titled 'Doodles of Hope' to support children who have experienced domestic violence. The book, designed to facilitate difficult but important conversations about safety.
Kelsey Hart, the Training and Care Coordinator for the Rockford Family Peace Center, emphasized the importance of starting conversations, "one of the ways we break these generational cycles of abuse is by starting these conversations in an age-appropriate way. Earlier in our kids' lives, so that they know that safety means being free from fear and that love shouldn't hurt".
Emily Cox, a children's advocate at the Family Peace Center, wrote the book after recognizing the need to help children not only understand safety, but
