EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A white flag notice has been announced at United Caring Services in Evansville.
Last year, United Caring Shelter changed its white flag temperature from 32 degrees to 40.
Executive Director Ryan Riggs says they had planned to raise the white flag on November first but the cold temps came quicker this year.
So starting tonight, they will replace the tables with beds and open their doors to all who need a place to sleep and get a warm meal.
Executive Director Ryan Rigg says they planned to do a full six months of white flag beginning November 1 until April 30.
“Regardless of what the temperature was outside, we were going to go ahead and have a white flag so that for those six months everyone had a place to go,” Rigg says.
