ST. MICHAEL — Jonathan Cowell and Briana Blasing are no strangers to state competition and they’re going to experience it again.

Cowell finished third in 16:29.6 and Blasing qualified for state with a sixth-place 19:07.9 in the Section 8-3A Finals Thursday, Oct. 23, at St. Michael Recreation Center.

Cowell bettered his presection-meet time by 30 seconds to qualify for his second state meet.

“John looked good,” Warriors head coach Dave Herath said. “The first two guys went out really fast and John was in the pack behind for the first half-mile and then separated himself and ran by himself until the last 400.
